Baking Soda Yeast Infections
Yeast infection is caused by the Candida fungus that is available in abundance in our body. When this particular fungus outnumbers then it leads to causing what we usually refer to as yeast infection. This infection occurs most commonly in the vagina area and the internal digestive tract of both the sexes. However, this infection most commonly occurs in women than in men. About 75% of the people are affected by yeast infection.
In women, yeast infection most commonly occurs around the vagina area. It produces a discharge like cottage cheese that causes itchiness, irritation and sometimes a burning sensation when passing urine. In addition to these symptoms, it can also exhibit swollenness, pain, and discomfort during sex.
There are a number of causes for the growth of yeast infection. Some of them are wearing tight and unclean inner clothing, use of deodorants and perfumes, low immunity level, birth control pills, diabetic conditions etc.
For the treatment of this condition, a number of over-the-counter medications or course prescription are available. However, in due course of time, this can prove expensive to those who suffer from recurring yeast infection. So, the only way out is to seek home remedies for the condition.
There are a number of home remedies available for yeast infection which provides effective treatments. One of them is the baking soda. Baking soda is used to balance the pH level. Those who are strictly under sodium-restricted diet should avoid this as it can lead to serious condition. Some of the ways through which baking soda can be used for the treatment are as follows:
1) Mix a tablespoon of baking soda in a glass of warm water and drink it. It tastes awful so if you want you can hold your nose. But if you have a weak stomach then you may end throwing up so better not to try it. However, it works effectively so choice is yours.
2) Another way of getting relief from the yeast infection is to take a warm baking soda bath. Add about 1/2 cup of baking soda every bath in lukewarm water. Soak yourself in the bath for about 15-20 minutes twice everyday until the symptoms are gone. Dry the affected area completely with a clean towel.
3) After every meal, brush your teeth with baking soda. Take a little bit of baking soda powder and brush your teeth with it. Rinse your mouth with 1/2 cup warm water and 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. Replace the toothbrush once you recover.
However, before you attempt any sort of treatment of the yeast infection, first consult with your doctor. It is very important to confirm whether the infection you are suffering from is yeast infection and no other disease.
