Food Allergy Symptoms - What causes Food Allergies


Food Allergy is nothing but a sort of sensitivity or intolerance of the body towards some food ingredients, especially Protein, that are commonly found in soy, fish, milk, wheat, walnuts, egg, peanuts, etc. But what are its symptoms?

The ever protective immune system of the body on finding any foreign substance becomes over protective and thinking that the substance is harmful, it produces antibodies to counter attack the invaders. The antibodies cling on to the mast cells and produce Histamines, which are the root cause of Allergy and may cause the Anaphylactic shock.

The signs of the abnormal allergic reactions can be observed just within a few minutes or after an hour or so of eating any Food item. It has been observed that the allergies resulting from consuming any eatable, which the immune system feels to be harmful to the body, are not as fatal when compared to other types of Allergies. Some of the common symptoms are as follows:


1. Vomiting

2. Wheezing and difficulty in breathing

3. Abdominal Cramping

4. Excessive coughing

5. Fatigue or dizziness

6. Red Rashes on the skin or hives

7. Itching or tingling in the mouth and throat

8. Swelling in the lips and face

9. Trouble in swallowing

10. Low Blood Pressure

11. Sudden Increase or fall in the Pulse Rate

12. Congestion in the Nasal passage or running nose

13. Eyes getting watery, red or itchy

14. Problem in digestion and stomach ache

15. Migraine and frequent headaches

16. Emotional disorder and depression


These are the indications of any of the common Food Allergies. Keep in mind, that these symptoms may be mild and less irritating but the allergens can enter one’s blood stream and make the life really terrible. Do consult the physician immediately after seeing any one out of these.
